Day 5: Day 4 recap

As I mentioned before, Audrey is setting a blistering pace for her recovery.  In my last entry, you all met Dr. Skarda (Audrey's surgeon) and saw that Henry and Pam came down to visit.

Having Henry down here (and Pam too!) has been absolutely excellent.  Henry is so happy to see his sister, and to see myself and Steph too.  Thankfully, there is plenty for him to do in Salt Lake City.  Unfortunately, it is pretty difficult to split your time between an infant in the hospital and a three year old who always has his dial on 11.  Yesterday we visited Audrey, went to Chipotle (bringing Henry into a whole new world of awesome), and went to a place called Sugar House Park.

Henry and I left Pam and Steph up at the hospital to hang out while we went back to the hotel for a rest and to take a swim.  Then on to dinner at the hospital and and seeing Audrey one last time before bed.

Here are a few photos from yesterday, and a bonus photo from today with an explanation of why it is so awesome.

All bundled up with NO chest tube

Her little zone again

Being held!

Henry at Sugar House park.  He made some good friends and chased seagulls for a half an hour

Audrey ripped out the tube that went down her throat and into her stomach.  She hated that thing anyways!

Lastly, she is down to room air (21% O2) at only 500ml/hr.  They will probably do a trial without oxygen soon to see if she can get that crap out of her nose (she hates that too).  Soon she should be able to have a little milk from a bottle (to control volume), which will lead to breast feeding at some point.

Thanks to all of you for following along and for sending us your well wished via email, facebook, and over the phone and in your thoughts.

Hey Guys,

I just read from Day 2 to this post and I can't stop thinking of the family and Audrey. I am very thankful for all of the positive news. I have trouble seeing adults with all the ICU tubes hooked up, seeing Audrey is gut wrenching. The bonus pic was all sorts of awesome. Very delighted to see the chest tube gone. Your little girl is a rock star.
